Philippians 3
13Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before,
14I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.
As I sat and took in the sermon of the last service last night, this was read out by our pastor. When Apostle Paul wrote the above, the things he wanted to forget were as below
5Circumcised the eighth day, of the stock of Israel, of the tribe of Benjamin, an Hebrew of the Hebrews; as touching the law, a Pharisee;
He wants to forget them because it was by the grace of God that this things were given to him, without God, these would not have come to pass. Without His grace and abounding love, none of our successes, be it in ministries, or our daily life, from the smallest of smallest things or vice versa would have accomplished or gone smoothly
We thank God for all that have gone well, we reflect on the rough patches, were they because of our inadequacies, our subconscious refusal to put in our very best, our whole heart into loving God and thus obeying Him in His Word? If we have done our best for His glory in whatever we do and yet nothing has improved or things did not go well in our eyes, then it is as He willed, it is not time yet.
James 4
"15For that ye ought to say, If the Lord Will, we shall live, and do this, or that."
This also means that we must not stop in whatever that we are doing because to know what lies ahead in our path and to transform for the better, we must move forward in accordance with His teachings, trusting and obeying that whatever lies ahead is perfect, not in our eyes, but His eyes as it is allowed by our loving Father.
Proverbs 3
5Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.
6In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.
