At the prompting of two Brothers, I would like to highlight that the chorus of the song "O Rejoice in the LORD He makes no mistake, He knoweth the end of each path that I take, For when I am tried And purified, I shall come forth as gold." is taken from Job 23:10 But he knoweth the way that I take: when he hath tried me, I shall come forth as gold. 然 而 他 知 道 我 所 行 的 路 ； 他 试 炼 我 之 後 ， 我 必 如 精 金 。 After all the trials that Job had went through, his family and fortune totally destroyed in one day and his three friends accusing him of being wicked even though he isn't, for Job to declare as he did in verse 10 before his 3 friends, I personally feel that we can see the utmost trust he has in God despite what he is going through. What faith Job has to say this! To know that it was for him to come forth as gold, as it was allowed by God. Let's look into the chemistry of purifying gold, gold being a metal has a very high boiling point of 2856°C. Using a very basic chemistry analogy, if you have a mixture of say alcohol with boiling point of 90°C and water of boiling point 100°C and you want to purify water and get rid of alcohol, you would heat the mixture to between 90°C and 100°C to remove the alcohol as vapour and thus have pure water remaining. However, the mixture must not be heated over 100°C as you will then lose the water as water vapour.. Similarly, if we apply this concept to impure gold, in order to achieve pure gold, we would need to heat all the way up to 2855°C to make sure that all the impurities are gotten rid of through heating. Now to apply it to Job and ourselves, we may be subjected to different level of trials, all these are required to purge and further purify us over and over again until the day of reckoning. Depending on how hot the fire, it may hurt a little, it may hurt a lot like in Job's case, but whatever the degree of hurt there is, let's put our minds to what the below verses has to say 1 Peter 1:5-7 5Who are kept by the power of God through faith unto salvation ready to be revealed in the last time. 6Wherein ye greatly rejoice, though now for a season, if need be, ye are in heaviness through manifold temptations: 7That the trial of your faith, being much more precious than of gold that perisheth, though it be tried with fire, might be found unto praise and honour and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ: 5 你 们 这 因 信 蒙 神 能 力 保 守 的 人 ， 必 能 得 着 所 预 备 、 到 末 世 要 显 现 的 救 恩 。 6 因 此 ， 你 们 是 大 有 喜 乐 ； 但 如 今 ， 在 百 般 的 试 炼 中 暂 时 忧 愁 ， 7 叫 你 们 的 信 心 既 被 试 验 ， 就 比 那 被 火 试 验 仍 然 能 坏 的 金 子 更 显 宝 贵 ， 可 以 在 耶 稣 基 督 显 现 的 时 候 得 着 称 赞 、 荣 耀 、 尊 贵 。 Let our faith be tested and tried while we lived so that we may look to eternity, towards the glory of God's kingdom.
